“Kami Mǎkǎ” illuminates the camaraderie and light within the Muslim community—one rooted in the everyday, the intimate, and the deeply human. Misconceptions about Muslims persist, but this work seeks to function as a counter-narrative. Through imagery of birds, kittens, children and everyday life, I document moments of quiet existence in Siem Reap, Cambodia, focusing on the Muslim community of Steung Thmey.
This project is about mundanity—about life unfolding in its own rhythm. It embraces both the mundane and the melancholic, with glimpses of joy and uncertainty.
